EAD - a pleasant surprise from TSC

Hi guys,

I came to know about this forum recently and have been browsing it.
I am posting my first post and it is not great news - but it is a happy news.
I applied for my 3rd EAD in July end -my 2nd EAD was expiring on mid Jan 2004.. I got my EAD yesterday. When I opened it I was pleasantly surprised that the validity of the EAD is 1 year from the time my old EAD expires. i.e. my new EAD is valid till Jan 15 2005!!! and not Spetember 2004 as I expected.
As people applying EAD will know that till now the validity of EAD was 1 year from the time of issue - making applying EAD/AP almost a continuous process.
I remember that this was one of the suggestions by MR. Khanna in the petition. So guess somebody is listening in TSC!!!!

How long did it take to get the EAD renewal - What is the RD/ND and approval date for your EAD.

they have been doing that

from some few months. even i got one like that in may from august 03 to august 04
 
V485K, I did not apply for EAD online. For my EAD the RD was 7/25/03 and the AD was 9/23/03

From the posting of tombann I gather that this change occured a few months back -I was not aware of it.

This change is especially useful in my state FL where they are issuing the driver's license only until the EAD is valid. This was resulting in a trip to the DMV every 6-7 months, paying the renewal fees, waiting a month for the license to arrive and then start the process again. Now at least I need to go the DMV only once a year.
But I do hope my green-card would get approved soon, which would be the ultimate great news.

All EADs applied in advance in comparison to the processing times and accurate documentation (old EAD/copy/mailer) always get the new EAD start from the end of current EAD. There were some exceptions.
So nothing to cheer about on this:o
