EAC# to ND relation

I still see newbies on this board confused with logic of EAC#.

The first 2 digits in EAC denote the year. For INS, the year starts on Oct 01. It is year 02 from Oct 01 2002 to Sept 30 2003

The next 3 digits are related to ND.

And the last 5 digits is just the serial number.

The EAC# is unique not only for 485 but across all the different INS applications.

The EACs are generated everyday, except for Sundays and Holidays.

You can find out almost accurate ND from 3 digits of EAC and vice versa using following formula

XX = Your ND
YY = Start of year 10/01/01

Find the result of ((xx - yy) * 29 / 35 ) and round it up.

If your ND is 11/29/01 then

(11/29/01 - 10/01/01) *29/35 = 49.71, if you round this you get 50. So EAC# will start with EAC-02-050-xxxxx.

Hope this helps

gcasap

then how will you explain the EAC# in my case. its EAC-02-xxx-xxxxx

Your statement "The first 2 digits in EAC denote the year. For INS, the year starts on Oct 01. It is year 02 from Oct 01 2002 to Sept 30 2003 " is incorrect.

It will be year 02 from Oct 01 2001 to Sept 30 2002

Just my 2 cents

Yes, ND is related to EAC#.
But the formula is not right! Actually I don't think there is such a formula. You just have to count the INS working days from Oct.1 to your ND to get that number.

Sorry gcasap but your original post had 2 typos and wrong formula... still a nice try...

Why do you think it is wrong formula. Give me one example, where this formula does not work ?

You may at the most get an error of 1 day. Therefore, I said ALMOST accurate.

Why dont you just try it before passing comments

I DID try it before I posted my last comments!

I used my own numbers and it was off by 3 days. What do you think my EAC# is, according to your so-called formula?

The only formula, if there is one, is to count the INS working days from Oct.1 to your ND... It shouldn't be that hard to realize this fact!

Try this (xx -yy)*6/7

...where 7 is number of days in a week and 6 is number of computer working days (INS computer) in a week if there are no federal holidays in that week.

this will not always work as there are other federal holidays that INS observe and 29/35 will also not work for most of the cases.
