Hi!
I applied for my son's immigration ( born in the US) in July 2002. I sent his medicals in mid Jan.
I checked his application status online and the following message appears in the end of april. I'm still waiting for his papers. I like to know how much more time will it take now.


We started processing your application on August 19, 2002.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Medical results have been received.

I guess once they made the decision, you are expected to get a passport request within 3-4 weeks. I have few questions, your answer will be greatly appreciated:

1. did you apply for your son PR application after you become PR of canada or before? I mean after landing or before landing?

2. If you applied from US after becoming canadian PR, what form and additonal documents you submiited to get the approval?

We applied for my son's immigration after we became the PR of Canada.
And secondly, as far as I remember, we just used the regular forms and attached the copy of my son't birth certificate (no additional forms required)

Thanks for your response. What do you mean by regular forms? Are the forms same as we used to apply as an independent immigrant or the forms are for family sponsership?

I mean you must have used different forms after becomeing PR for sponsoring your son? Can you please guide me on this.

No, the forms are different for family class. You can download the forms from this link.

But now almost 2 weeks passed have not heard anything from Visa Office. Could you please share your experience.

I applied for Canadian immigration in June 2002. I couldnt check my status online.
I am getting the message 'Online status is now available for the applicants who applied before January 2002'

Please let me know if anyone who applied after January 2002 can check their status online?

I applied in July and havent heard anything yet nor can check the e client... I get the same message... From this forum i came to know that it usually takes a year from the date we received our AOR. In ur case it should be available in next couple of months...
