E-2 overstayed for school, now going back to Canada--chances for future re-entry?

I read in this forum that if one overstays their visa they will be banned from entering the US; if you overstay for more than 2 years, they place a 10-year ban on re-entry. I was wondering if this would still apply to Canadians who overstay, because there are less restrictions on Canadians entering the US in general.

I ask because I entered the US on an E-2 (my parents are E-1), but I could not get my visa renewed after I turned 21. I continue to stay in the US, however, because I am finishing up with my BA.

I plan on going back to Canada for grad school, but I was wondering if I would be able to re-enter the US (whether by land or air, but preferably by air) to visit my family.

Thank you.

Nationality will not play for Sec 212.. Only those exempt from entry bar is one was minor, asylum and some other special cases.
