im also an another SL winner .CN 2012AS0..4xxx.waiting for the next notification from KCC.does anybody know how to speed up the SLn police clearance certificate ?seems it takes 3 months..and do we have to get certified our education,birth certificate translations from battaramulla ?please let me know the procedure?

Your confirmation will be online. No NL through mail. Go to the same place where you found you won. It will say when your interview is.

I'm checking it online daily.but first notification letter is still there.i asked them about the status they replied its acceptable for further processing and keep checking visa bulletin.is this the column which says about current numbers "All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed "? if so for oct 8000 from asia.mine is 4XXX.Do we have to get our translations certified by a gov office in Battaramulla?..if so what is that ministry or department.

You should contact KCC. You should get the notification by now since your number is very low. Ask KCC why the delay.
 
original Hand written documents

does any body know how to get original hand written birth certificate from sri lanka? normally when we request for new one they offer a certified copy of the original.some ppl in these forums says they did not accept certified copies.

what should be included in the sponsor letter other than sponsor's name,address and tel no?

sponsor letter

As I think, sponsor details SSN, address tel no and relationship of DV winner & sponsor (like a friend, relation or whatever). Other thing simple introduction about DV winner with NIC no and winner address in SL.

Normaly sponsor most prefer to issue a letter without any financial support , lodge , foods etc, If DV winner have enough enough currency to expense until find a job in USA. But sponsor can support to find suitable lodge,foods etc without any difficulty for DV winner . This idea should be included briefly as a sponsor letter as i think. If somthing wrong please correct me also.

We are living in USA and looking for a partner(a DV 2012 winner) for my daughter

We are living in USA and looking for a partner (who should be a DV 2012 winner) for my daughter who is in Sri Lanka . It will take 5-6 years to take our daughter to USA on family based green card and also she is now marriage age , we are looking for a such good partner for our daughter and both of them can come to usa and we can help them to settle down here.

Also note that this is not just trying to get my daughter to USA (we also belive in Horoscope) and looking for a good son for my daughter. But he should not compulsory to be a rich person since we consider a good partner for the rest of my daughters life.

Thank you SRAA for the explanations about sponsor letter.I have my visa interview for the 2012-DV in couple of weeks time. As per what I heard, if we are successful in the interview, we will be given a temporary initial visa to go to US and get the green card.
I have some doubts to clarify before,

1. What is the start date of this initial visa? Is it same as the interview date? How long is it valid for?
2. Can we ask that initial visa start from lets say April in the interview?
3. If we get the initial visa, can we be sure that we get the green card if we go to US close to the expire date of the initial visa? or should we go there as soon as we get it?

Hi menayaperera,

As I understand with read previous " DV-2011 - Sri lankan winner" forum. If Dv winner will be given a temporary visa after the interview. That visa valid up to 6 month from issue date. within 6 month you must go to the USA and can get a green card. I have a audio clip related to green card semina which was conducted by US embassy in SL on last Octomber. I can email u. If I have a ur email ID. what is your CN.

scan copy of sponsor letter

Hi friends,

I got scan copy of sponsor letter (including sponsor name,address,SSN, contract no, brief discription with his letterhead) from one of my relations who is living in USA as a university professor. I need to know, could I produce the letter for the interview as a scan copy of sponsor letter ? Anybody knows about this matter ?

Scanned documents of affidavit of support are acceptable at the consulate.
