This is a very resource ful forum. Thank you all for keeping it alive.
My wife (Ethiopian) received NL recently with case number 2009AF00015xxx. I will appreciate if some one can share their expereince regarding the following points.
1. The naming system in Ethiopia does not conform to the western system. There is no family or sure name. Some people use their father's name and others use their grandfather's name. usually three names appear in the pasport; the given name, the father's name and the grandfatther's name. Whcih name is accepted as family name by US consulates?
2. We are living in South Africa and the interview is going to be in Johannesburg, South Africa. Which number should we check for being current? The cutoff number for Africa or for Ethiopia?
3. If the family members decide to follow the winner at a later date, should they go for interview with the winner? How long can one stay behind and follow? The dead line for issuing the visa I think is September 30, how about a deadline entring US as a family member?
Thanks
