Hello,

I would appreciate if somebody could help me. I was planning to marry but I received the winning notification (case number: EU00002xxx) prior the marriage. If I marry now, is this gonna hurt my chances of getting the green card?

I have another question, I am now in USA on B1 visa visiting my fiancee, he is studying here, if we marry here in states and apply for consular processing back to our country (I have to go back in Greece before 11 August 2006) is this maybe affect our chances of getting the green card?

Thank you very much in advance

Vasiliki

You can read my own DV experience here in the forum.

You will see that I got married after receiving the NL.
My lawyer advised to get married and then send the forms for both of us.
I know some people who fisrt sent their forms, then got married and resent the forms for both. ( this way, you get more time to prepare a nice ceremony ...)
However, my lwayer did not recommend it as he wanted to make sure that my husband's forms would be treated at the same time ( and not lost somewhere ). But none of my acquaintances had problems the other way.

So, it is definitely possible.

Also, we were both in the US (F1) : we got married in the US, so we got a US marraige certificate, which I sent to a local embassy so that my marraige would also be known by french authorities.
When we had our interview ( we had chosen to do CP ), we had two documents for the marraige certificate : a french certificate and a US one.

Thank you very much for your reply, I want to ask you something else.

Am I gonna have a problem if I have with me only the US marriage certificate in the interview?

Thank you again!

No. One marriage certificate would be enough. ;)

I agree with Anahit.
I just showed both so that the officer had translated documents. But this was not needed as for CP in France, both french or english documents are accepted.
