DV2007 AOS Time Frame

For a DV2007 selected person who is living in the US going the AOS route:

What would be the earliest and latest dates that they could expect to get a GC?

(i.e. assuming that the actually get a GC what is the best and worst case scenario with respect to date of receipt of GC?)

You did not provide your case number, so it's hard to make a guess.

worst case : your number is too high, or called too late and your case is not processed before Sept 30th 2007 => you do NOT get the GC.

worst timeline : you are approved in late Sept ( but at least, you get it ! )
best timeline : your number is very low, you could have your interview/biometrics done as early as October 2006.

A 2007 DV winner can only get granted the GC between Oct1st 2006 and Sept 30th 2007.

Catseyes: Would you please elaborate more the line in bold?

Thanks Catseyes - I was trying to work out earliest and latest dates. Say that my number is the first from my continent: AF000000001

You are saying that it is possible to be processed on the 1 Oct 2006 right?

Yes.
If you were among the very low case numbers, and if your information has been processed ( by KCC : you sent your paperwork very soon after having received it ), then you could have your interview on Oct 1st. And if your interview is successful ( education, evidence of support, you paid the fees, you have all the docs...), then you could be approved on Oct1st.
It is theoretically possible.
However, it may take some time for background check ( from a couple of hours, to days or weeks ), so you could be approved the day after.

My interview was in the afternoon. Thus, the date on my visa was the day after.

That's really useful information - thanks Catseyes!

So how does your local USCIS office decide the order in which to process AOS?

Do they prioritize it from the order of DSP-122 packs they receive from KCC?

I remember that you mentioned in another thread that there is a very small percentage of people that go the AOS route for DV.

For example, what if I'm the only AOS for DV at my local USCIS?

I did not write ( or at least I hope I didn't ) that only a few chose AOS if they win at the DV .

If I well remember, I wrote that AOS for DV winners is a very small percentage of all the people doing AOS. AOS is not only for DV winners, it's also for GC through your employer, and spouses of USC or LPR ( with already a legal status in the US )...

Also, my previous post is more for CP.
For AOS, I think it would be different : I don't think you could do your biometrics before Oct 1st, which means before the season for DV07 has started. But I do not know for sure. Maybe you, and maybe not.

Just looking at the bulletin for Oct 2006 and see that my number falls in there - in fact right at the start if I'd been DV2006 - so I'm guessing it will be in the Oct 2007 bulletin - which means I need to get myself organized sooner than I thought - if I've understood this correctly.

My apologies - I didn't mean to mis-quote you.

True - because they send you for biometrics and won't send you until you start. Am I correct in saying that I can go and do the medical on my own volition or do I need to wait for them to send me?

Biometrics - they send you a notice of action with a specific date and time
Medical - you go by yourself, find a doctor approved by the USCIS and go

Thanks for the help. I've just been calling around the approved doctors and quoted a rate of $140 for the basic INS medical and then $45-$100 per "missing shot" that's not on the vaccination card. The $140 covers TB, HIV and Syphalus testing only. If Tetanus, Hep B etc. are missing then $45-$100 per shot extra.

The don't accept my HMO.

Is this what I should expect?

Hey

Do we really get info 3 months in advance as to what numbers will become current in 3 months ?

Where did you get that info (bulletin) from ? Pls share the link

Thanks

No, you can not get what numbers will be available 3 months in advance. You can get what numbers will be available in approximately 1 month and 20 days.

For example, In the beginning of May they published visa bulletin for June that had visa numbers for July. So, from the beginning of May till July there is approximately 1 month and 20 days.
