DV2007 AOS or CP

I'm currently on a H1B status and consequently my wife and baby have H4 visas. My wife just won the DV 2007 lottery with case number 2007AF00017XXX. My employer filed my PERM labor certification this week, should I discontinue the process? since I'm bound to the company for a reasonable time period after getting my green card. My wife is rounding up her USMLE and hopes to start a medical residency program by June 2007.
Do you advise we use AOS or CP?
How soon can we file forms and documents for AOS?
What forms and documents do we need?
Is there a need to discountinue my employment based application?
Thanks for your prompt help

Hi FAL_DV2007,
I was in the same situation. My wife was an H1B visa holder. I had my H4 and it was I who won the dv2006 lottery. She had an employment based visa petition filed for her but we didn't dropped that case since you never know how it's gonna be.
Remember, that after you receive your green cards based on the visa lottery you can always discontinue your employment based procedure eventually.
Theoretically, you have to file your forms when your number (2007AF00017XXX) bocomes available. Some people on this forum though, like Borya for example, filed their forms much earlier and finished everything successfully. Please, check out the forum posts for more info.
My number for DV2006 was EU7xxx and became current in February. On April 18th I finished the whole procedure and 2 weeks later received my green card. I hope it gives you some insight. You will find more info in my signature.
In terms of documents you will need I-485, G-325A, I-765 (optional), I-693, I-134, birth certificates, marriage certificates, w-2s, income tax returns, I-94, first and second letter from KCC and any approval notice if you changes or extended your status
Good luck,

Greg - Thanks for your response.

Is it possible to switch between AOS and CP during the process. I'm asking because I will like to send the DSP forms to KCC as early as possible and in one of the forms I have to indicate if I want to be interviewed at my home country or by BCIS.

At the earliest, I can only start getting an indication of how the rank order will be for DV2007 by Nov - Dec 2006. If the trend follows that of DV2006, I will prefer AOS but if it follows what am seeing now for DV2006, then CP will be preferred

Secondly, do you think it is valuable to have legal representation all through the process or just have one off consultations when needed. Full legal representation in MN is about $1,250 per person (we are 3 - wife, myself and daughter :D ), but I can get one off for $100 per visit

Thanks for your advice
