hello guys, there is something going on at the us embassy in nigeria that we don't understand.i'm a dv2005 winner,i did my interview on the 27th of may and i was told to come back for the visa on the 26th of june.but to my surprise i was told that there ve' an order from washginton that visas should not be given to dv winners till further notice.right now my passport is still in the consular center and i don't know precisely when the visa will be issue.
what i need to know is that,is it the same thing happening in other countries,do you guys really think the order is from the STATE.is there any possibility that we might not be given again after paying $755.plz i need answers cos i'm a very confused man.thanks.
lucymo!! i need your reply on this plz

nobody on other forums from other countries is reporting anything like that. Except for Ukraine, since the visa quota has been depleted for this country in May.

Hi Fickybabs,

I am not sure what's going on in Nigeria, but I suspect Nigeria has reached or is close to reaching the per country quota for DV 2005, and that the State Department is trying to determine whether that cap is reached.

Just an educated guess. Nigeria has tradionnally reached the per country quota in previous years.

Hi, i am afraid i am experiencing a similar situation here in Germany. I am an african and had my interview early Febraury. I have been calling the consular in vein and all the say is that due to administrative problems it has not been issued. I also have my passport with the consulate since Feb and i am only truly frustrated because though i was made to understand it could take between one to five days, it has taken six months. I wasnt told there is an instruction from Washington but the delay may just be from higher quaters.
I regret that we have to be put under such mental torture.

Dear LucyMo,
i understand this may mean almost nothing to the US authorities but are there any possibilities that we may at the end have our visas? I wonder why our passports would be retained for so long. I guess its easy to verify all stuff within five months. Please help out here if you can. As for me its terrible already as i have been asked to leave Germany in some weeks. I still have my passport with the consulate and they have no idea when they will be through, let alone if they would issue the visa. Its truly frustrating if not humiliating.
Please help if u can
