When is the latest time I can get married and include my future wife in the DV process? I have the interview in a month and just got engaged. Do I have to be legally married before the interview or do I have some time after that? Please advise.

Do you mean you are going to have your interview in a month time? If that is the case, then I'm afraid it is too late to include your wife in the dv visa process.

Yes, my interview is in April and obviously I didn't include her in the application form. However, in all websites I read the following:" However, if you include an eligible dependent on your visa application forms that you failed to include on your original entry, your case will be disqualified. (This only applies to persons who were dependents at the time the original application was submitted, not those acquired at a later date.)"

That is the reason I am not sure if I can show up to the interview with the marriage certificate and therefore get her involved in the process. Let me know what you think. On the other hand, I don't want to raise any red flags that could affect my application process.

You can jeapardize your approval by applying her now so short before your interview after only being engaged for a short time. USCIS might see the whole marriage as a scam just to get her a GC as well. So carefull with your decision. She can after your marriage apply for a GC when you become a citizen in 5 years.

No you're mistaken ammeck09. You can easily add you wife in the process but do so ASAP. I did this also after receiving the 2 NL and interview date successfully so do not worry!!

Your wife has no visa number and they can only start to get one for her once they receive something of your intend to add her to your case.

Send Cover letter telling you intend to marry with her name and date and place of birth.
add her DS230 PLUS official certificate of intend to marriage (or whatever it is called in your country--the official notification that you usually get at the Civil services to start the marriage process with)

This you send directly to your country's Embassy or Consulate, not to KCC, as all your papers have are already in your country.

There should be no reason for them to make your case harder as long as you can proof you know each other for a long time and/or have children together, things like that.

What I did is call my country's Consulate directly and the woman explained that its really a matter of the numbers so you need to let them know. Then there should of course be the wedding asap (we forwarded the date as the numbers are fast this year). Then send the official certificate (or they will tell you to bring the original and a copy at the time of the interview). The woman also mentioned that this happens a lot and clearly I also was confused and did not go about it the best way, but second best which is still okay.

Important is to do it now ASAP with as many official marriage related things as possible.

They also need time to do a background check on your wife so depending on how those things go (e.g. if she has perfect papers, no criminal records and just lived in the country where your case is, that's quick and easy)

You embassy or consulate will tell you the best way to go about this in your case so do call them and explain your case.

If you are only together for weeks, then they might do a more strict interview or want additional proof. That all depends but if you know her a long time, you should be fine. You gave no info on that so thats hard to tell.
For us the adding was no problem as we have children together (except that she explained to me that I should have done it right away with just the paper of intend to marry so he was already added to my case but even adding him after getting the 2NL and interview date, it was fine).

Please ask if you need more help on this but add some info

Bentlebee's answer is only relevant if you met your wife a short while ago, but even so if you are genuine you can get the GC (if the requirements are met) and they tend to also keep up with you afterwards as she will be your dependent, but that I do not know exactly about this. There are plenty of people who know from experience so just listen to those and check what people tell you here.

Just to make sure you get this, you have to be married BEFORE The interview date and NO you can't just show up with a marriage certificate at the interview as that way your wife has not visa number. You can always have an interview at a little later date, as long as there are visas you'll be fine.

Showing up with your marriage certificate without your wife will only raise a red flag. You have to add her to your case and go from there. She has to get a medical, biometrics form to get fingerprinted, etc.

The might ask of proof (interview) of how long you know each other, etc.... If you recently met her and got engaged quick, that might be an issue.

Over here in the US you hear from people who met at a bar, and got it going right away and moved in within a week got engaged 2 weeks later and get married...that isn't something that will get her a GC, but maybe you know each other for years and if you have proof that can help your case. They might ask why you got married just before your interview and ask for inventations to be shown.

Not long ago there was an article in the Tampa newspaper of a wedding picture of a father who married his daughter all to have proof of a marriage and keep her over here to get her a GC...she needed to leave when she was 21...The whole marriage was a scam and had cost them money for pictures, the clothes, friends to be shown up in evening gowns, etc...all to scam USCIS.
