Dv Lottery Questions

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here to the forums, I hope I'm posting the right section. If not please forgive me.
I'm an Australian Citizen, Currently 19 and completing my HSC ( Year 12 ) Soley for the purpose of winning my Green card in the DV lottery.

Anyways I have some questions..

1) How soon after winning the lottery are you required to go for the interview? See I wrote I had completed year 12, although I'm doing it as we speak, It will be officially completed November 1st 2007, If I win the GC Interview can I delay the Interview untill December 2007 or Janurary 2008? ( So I have my Certificate )

2) I entered the lotto as an individual, My Dad also entered as in individual however since I'm an unmarried son under 21 I was also put on the form with my brothers, That's all legal right? I have only entered once although if he wins I also have access to a green card app to move over with him?

3) If I dont win my Greencard is there any other option to move to the US by either starting a business there or something? I doubt I'll marry an American Lady any time soon and the field of work I'm in Ie Martial Arts instructor is definatly not going to warrant me a GC.. Is there some kind of loop hole or something I can do now to get over there even if I dont win the GC?

Thanks

Oh and how much money do I need to have saved up to legally obtain this greencard. At the moment I only have $800 to my name since I'm living with my dad and I'm only a Teenager.

Hi,

Yes, you are in the wrong forum. You are better off posting your question in the right section:

Anyhow, if you are one of the lucky winners then you don't really have a choice regarding the interview. It depends on what they call "case number" and that depends also on your region. Interviews for the DV2008 will begin 1 Oct 07 and end 30 Sept 07. The lower the case number the sooner the interview. Once you win the lottery you will be given specific and clear directions as to what to do next.

One step at the time. You have entered the lottery. Continue your studies.

...and best of luck

however, you must have a high school diploma at the time you are filling out DS-230 forms. If you send the forms in without first attaining HS degree, you will not be called in for an interview (that is, if you dont' have the two year work experience that requires two years of training).

So, if you are completing your degree on Nov 1, you can send in the forms only after that, and that means you will definitely not have the interview right away. Plus, it all depends on your case number.

Do you think I will be disqualified ?
If I just explain to them that I will have the degree in a month or two and I can mail it immediatley they will be understanding?
Or will they likley reject me for ' lying '.
I just wanted so badly to enter this year, It is my dream to go to the USA and be the next Donald Trump.

Mabye If I put the water works on for them it will help them decide?

to qualify for the lottery you need to either have a HS diploma, or two years of experience that require training. Water works will not help.

If you win you have to wait until you have the diploma to send in the DS-230 forms, or you will be disqualified.

That's Fine, So I should just get the forms and keep them till I have my Diploma and then send them in a bit late?
Will they disqualify me for sending them in late?

no, they will not disqualify you for sending them late. They will disqualify you for not having the necessary qualifications, however, if you send your forms too early (before you get HS diploma).

Alright, No Problem.

So can someone walk me through exactly what will happen and How I can go about this?

I Assume it goes a bit like this

(IF I win)
' Win the GC lottery sometime within April - June '
' Do all the nessicary things in order to get the green card application forms Ie make the phone calls ect get the forms sent out to me. '
' Finish my Diploma ( November ) '
' Mail my Diploma along with the forms in ( December ) '

and go from there?
Am I right in assuming that once your accepted and get the forms you can then claim your GC any time from that year on?
I know it would take a long time as you'd be put to the back of the Que but the main thing is I'd have one.

How long does Administrative Processing takes. My Case is undergoing Administrative processing. Can someone tell h/her experience on AP.
