Dv lottery cancelled???

Hello everybody,

I heard that DV lottery Programm has been cancelled . Is that true ? If it is true , what will be happend for DV-2006 ? Is it also cancelled ? It is really bad news . Please comment. Thanks in advance.

DV 2006 and 2007 is ok. no more dv2008

Last Friday, december 16th 2005, the House (109th Congress) approved bill H.R. 4437. With the amendment 650 to that bill, the DV lottery gets eliminated.





However, the Senat still needs to confirm this bill and the president needs to sign it. You can find that bill here http://thomas.loc.gov/

My Guess: As soon as the presidents signs the bill (maximum 10 days after he has received it, Sundays don't count), the bill becomes law and all pending DV applications (2006 and 2007) will be dismissed. But that's just my guess ...

I just talked to my lawyer, so he told me that just the congress passed this ammendment, before the senate passes there will be a lot of changes and he doubts that lottery program would be eliminated. Even if the law and the amendment passes as it is he doubts that it would be retroactive, that means it would not affect DV-2006 winners.
