Hi everybody,
I did not find any topic with the similar content. Did anyone face a situation when he used to visit the U.S. and have been arrested (for anything: from failure to pay parking tickets to shoplifting/theft), and after that he won DV lottery and passed (or failed) the interview? That information would be very helpful for me!

P.S: I am fully aware of what conviction for immigration purposes is and I also know everything about my case. What I really need is only examples of such kind of situations and what they ended in.
Thank you in advance!

I think it will be hard to get any one to answer it, since no prior convicted felons are allowed into the country at all...so they probably won't be on any forum.

Minor felonies like not paying parking tickets or getting speeding tickets are usually not reasons for the DV denial. In the past, got many speeding tickets in the U.S, and it wasn't even mentioned at the interview because it is not considered a criminal act.

Shoplifting or theft would be a criminal act. Usually if a foreigner who visits the U.S and did a crime, he/she will be prosecuted according to the U.S law and most likely will be deported once the sentenced is over or paid for.

As far as if that person will be allowed back to the U.S after committed a crime, it would be at the consular discretion and the Department of Homeland Security decision. In my opinion, any act of crime in the U.S or abroad can be used against someone at the DV interview.

I read on the news about an athlete from Japan who brought illegal drugs (anabolic steroids) to the U.S and got caught by the U.S custom. He was sentenced 3 months in prison in the U.S and was deported back to Japan after the sentenced is over. A year later, he came back to the U.S with no problem. In fact, he went to the U.S many times after that.

Thank you for your anwer.
In fact, I know everything about my case, what petty offence exception is, what conviction for immigration purposes is etc. I just want to find someone with similar experience, who have already passed or failed an inteview. I suppose with the help of such experience I would be able to figure out whether personal opinion of Immigration Officer in such cases could prevent me from obtaining immigrant visa.

If somebody has an experience to share - that will be more than appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
