DV Lottery 2012: AOS/CP decision making and DS-230 form inquiry

I am a F1 visa holder and case number is AS105xx.
I am wondering that should I do AOS or go back to my country to do CP.
The thing concerns me is that if I am denied by CP, can I still keep my F1 visa which allows me to come back to USA?

p.s. I apply the visa for my wife too.
Should she file a separate DS-230? Or I and her just need to submit one DS-230.

if you do AOS there is no need to file form 230. it is only for Consular processing.

Brainstorm79, thanks for your response. Right now my issue is not sure whether go for AOS or CP. And, if CP is denied, I need to make sure I can maintain my F1.

I still don't know whether the result of immigration interview of CP will impact my nonimmigration unexpired VISA.
Can anyone please help answer this?

p.s. why people keep saying if you choose CP, you may not be able to come back to USA anymore?
Who knows why?
