DV Lottery 2007: Want to AOS but Mailed Letter Already!

I was selected for DV 2007. Case # 2007AF00002XXX. I mailed the forms to Kentucky and stated on one the forms "BCIS" indicating I want to adjust status in the US.

I went to the local USCIS office where I was told to hold off until October 2006 but I decided to follow the instructions on the letter.

My Question: Have I done the right thing here? If not what should I do to correct it. I need help with what to do next.

Yes you did right by mailing all the forms back. Some people did not mail the forms back, and had problems later on during the AOS process.

Thanks for your response. What is the next step? What timeline should I expect?

Your number is very low for the AF region.
Your number will most probably be current in October.

You did the right thing by informing KCC about your decision to go with AOS ( my opinion is that with such a low number, you truly had a choice between CP and AOS ).

For AOS, you have to send forms ( I485 ) to the Chicago lockbox when you see your number current in the bulletin ( probably August ).
Then you wait for a receipt notice ( NoA : Notice of Action ). You will later receive a Biometrics appointment.

The USCIS meant to hold off sending the AOS package (I-485, e.t.c.).
You're fine. ;)

Thanks everyone for responding.

Does it matter that I mailed the letter via priority mail with delivery confirmation{not signature confirmation}? I wanted to be sure it got there.

You just paid a little extra. ;)
You have access to the internet. You could easily track your shipment on www.usps.com. There was no need for delivery confirmation.
