DV activation for a married couple - Do they have to do it together????

Hi,

this thread may already exist somewhere in this forum but I can not find an answer to my question.

My husband and I, are to enter the US in October to activate our DV visas. The thing is that I am considering going to the US sooner since I'm currently unemployed and can just go ringt now if I want to do it, but I'm not sure if we MUST enter the US together or not.

Just so you know, our visa envelopes are separated, so that's why I'd guess there'd be no problem if we entered the US on different dates.

Does anybody know of an official US Immigration site with such information or knows somebody who did enter the US on different dates?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi,

When I was given our passports and envelopes, the CO clearly said that as the principal applicant, I could enter first, and with my derivatives to follow, or we could enter all together; however, they could not enter before me.

So to answer your question - you can enter first if you are the principal applicant. If your husband won the lottery, then you must travel with him.

Good luck.
