DV-2026: Berlin interview but derivative in US (F-1) — AOS or consular?

Hello everyone,

I’m a DV-2026 selectee.
The principal applicant (me) and derivatives (my wife and daughter) have an immigrant visa interview scheduled in Berlin.

Our daughter is a derivative beneficiary, but she is currently in the U.S. on a valid F-1 visa.
In her DS-260 she selected USCIS (Adjustment of Status) as interview location.

Is it possible for her to pursue Adjustment of Status (I-485) in the U.S. while we attend the consular interview in Berlin?

Or does she also need to process through a consulate outside the U.S.?

Would appreciate any experience or guidance.

Thanks!

She can do AOS, but only after the principal applicant has landed in the US with their immigrant visa. I assume you are aware of the current pause in DV issuance.

Paging @Sm1smom who might want to move this into one of the existing DV threads.

Perhaps I don’t fully understand all the risks or issues, but is it possible to file Form I-485 immediately after the interview? Could you advise?

No, that is not possible. You, the principal selectee at a minimum, must be issued with your immigrant visa, enter the US and be admitted as a LPR before she can file for AOS.
