Request information from Sm1smom: my brother who is going to complete his high school in May 2025, can he apply for DV 2026 as its application date is this year ? I am confused do they see the HS completion date at the time of applying or at the time of filing the AOS application (after the DV results)

High school must be completed at the time of interview. Actually technically it can be even after that as long as before the end of the FY as they can put you on AP pending completion.

High School Education or Equivalent:

(1) (U) You must adjudicate the DV applicant’s qualifications under this requirement. This information is not needed to enter the DV program or apply for a visa under the DV program, but the applicant must meet this requirement by the end of the fiscal year in which selected. If the applicant does not meet the requirement at the visa interview, you should refuse the case under INA 203(c). If the applicant presents evidence of completion of high school before the end of the fiscal year, and visas are still available for the region, you may overcome the refusal.

And why is this thread titled 2026 AOS only thread, considering the question is about entry submission eligibility.

DV2026 is now open and in the questions :

12. What is the highest level of education you have achieved, as of today?
Primary school only
High School, no degree
High School degree
Vocational School
Some University Courses
University Degree
Some Graduate Level Courses
Master's Degree
Some Doctorate Level Courses
Doctorate Degree

You must have a minimum of a high school diploma reflecting the completion of a full course of study (vocation schools or equivalency degrees are not acceptable) or be a skilled worker in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to qualify (visit http://www.onetonline.org/ to see if your occupation qualifies) for a Diversity Visa.

as my brother is still in 12th grade what should we select ?

High school no degree is accurate as of entry time
they understand that people can get new /complete qualifications between entering DV and their interview, if they are selected. He only needs to have completed high school as of the date he actually has an interview for a DV visa.

This has happened to me am in university 3rd year Kenya. Ave selected High school no degree so this means I can still do changes once am selected?

Sorry, was planning to do AOS so Did not know about thread naming rules
please rename it to something else soon there will be a thread with the same name to help AOSer so it will be mixed with yours instead I suggestion you give it some other name like DV2026 application process and the like

I named it as per the previous naming convention for AOS users

No, you did not name it per previous naming convention for AOS users like I already pointed out to you back in August when you originally created the thread. The question you were asking when you created the thread WAS NOT about someone already based in the US who has been selected and wishes to process their selection via AOS. Your title is misleading.

Dear let’s make it simple, I know a thread with the same name which has been running for over more than 5 years . It has been helping a lot of members achieving their DV-AOS Goals . Your name of the thread is exactly the same with the thread I am talking about and could you please rename your thread to something else ? Please

OP does not have the capability to change the title of the thread on their own at this point. The thread will eventually get locked up to further responses in due course anyways, so no big deal.

Sorry but I also replied previously, I am planning to do AOS (means I will be in US) so I don't think there was anything wrong with naming where did I said I will do consular processing ?

Your brother whom you wrote about has not yet been selected, as a matter of fact their entry application was yet to be submitted when you created the thread. So you shouldn’t have created a generalized AOS 2026 thread, it’s as simple as that.

~ ~ Thread is hereby locked up to further posting as the title is rather misleading ~ ~
