DV 2014 case number

Hey guys,

I have been browsing the internet and especially this forum for months now. I can not find an answer to my question.

How would I be able to see the case number? Is it the confirmation number starting with the year 2014 ? There are mostly letters and I would be interested to know if I happen to have a high or low case number.

My Confirmation number starts with 20142C2L8XXXXXXX

Any help would be highly appreciated :)

Also - shouldnt the initiales for the country be in the confirmation number ? EU for europa AF for africa etc?

If you are one of the people selected next Wednesday, May 1, you will receive a notification letter (by logging into the Entrant Status Check using your Confirmation number). That letter will have a case number on it starting with 2014XX (XX = the code for the region your country is in eg. AS for asia, AF for Africa, OC for Oceania etc) then it follows with a series of numbers.

You can then check the Visa Bulletins for the current and previous years on travel.state.gov to get an idea of when case numbers become current, and compare your number with what's listed on the bulletin. That will help you to determine whether you have a high or low case number, and when your interview might be scheduled. It can change every year, so there are no guarantees.

Having said all this, it's best to just wait until May 1st to see if you are selected before worrying about what happens next.

Great, thats all I needed to know. So basically by the time I find out about my case number I will also already know if I am selected or not , correct?

As I am in for DV2014 I will check my status on May 1st.

Thanks for your help.

Technically correct - if you receive a case number, it means you have been selected. If you are not selected for further processing, you will not receive a case number.
