Dv -2013 family winners thread

awsome guys i now have the ideaa i needed.but do the dv visas expire by the end of the given dv fiscal year? like what if i get my visa in tha last week of september will i be my visa valiad even after september 30th

I am not sure of the answer to that question. Green cards have to be issued by the end of the fiscal year. So yes, it may mean that you have to enter the US before the end of September. It's best for you to ask this question to the CO during your interview.

They do not expire because of the end of the fiscal year. You just need to get it before 9/30

He does not know what fiscal year means, forgive him.

I meant forgive raevsky, he does not know many things, but he is learning. The hard way.

i see.....bt are there possibilities then for one to be issued a visa in the last last week? am worried got my case number is threatning :)

OK, here is the thing, once you got your visa, you have to enter the US until the end of the fiscal year (9/30) so that you get your green card. Your visa may be valid beyond 9/30 but if you did not enter before the end of the fiscal year, you'll lose the green card. AFTER you entered US and your green card is in the mail, you can leave the US and can reenter with that visa until the visa's expiration date. So you can use the visa until its expiration date AFTER you activated your green card before 9/30. I hope it helps.

It depends. Visas could end (per region or per country quota could be exhausted). Do not rely on last days or weeks

and numerous examples on forums, on another hand.

They must be all wrong but lucky! After all one could be wrong but just dumb luck can get them a green card as this troll suggested several times. And yeah green cards do not have to be distributed by the end of the fiscal year; whoever wrote that law has no idea what he is talking about. But enough with this nonsense.

hmmmmm i think aos13 is making sence coz i remeba i read i dnnoo wea that after tha end of the fiscal year they close the green case and start proccesing the next green case.bt f ravesky is stating otherwise am gtn confussd.@ravesky can u please support ua answer whats incorrect and why pliz?

medical is valid for 6 months except you have some complication during the medical exam (tb) then it would be reduced to 3 months.
if your visa was approved on the 30th of sept(the fiscal year) doesn't mean your visa is not valid for 6 months.
say your visa was issued 30th sept 2013 you can travel by march 2014. that is if your medical does not expire in 3 months.
the expiring date of your medical has effect on your visa.
there is a friend whose medical expired b4 he travel and he was held in texas poe for a very long time after the long flight he had from nigeria to texas, due to expired medicals and was asked to do another one. he couldn't do anything in texas until he got the new medical result which he spent $400 or so for.

There is a maximum visas per country 3500 visas. Country other than those 3 from Africa will not have that limitation.
