DV-2012 AOS - What is my next step?

The thing for being current in the same month and having the interview in the same month works mostly for Consular processing, for people who are in their home countries and are waiting to go to the embassy. For those who are in the US and are doing AOS which is change of status, you send the AOS package to Chicago, then you get notification that they received, then you get the notice to go do biometrics and only after you do biometrics you are waiting for an interview letter, then you go to the interview at the local USCIS office and then if your case is ok, papers are fine, the documnets are transfered for KCC, only then you get aproved and get the green card in the mail in around 2 weeks. Good Luck

PS
Guys Find a thread/forum that you belong to and stay within that forum, because otherwise you get confused with other ones, so if you are in US and doing AOS, stay in DV 2012 AOS Only forum as you will find all the onformation you need there and try to read the DV AOS 2011 and 2010 forums as there is answer to all your question there, I know for sure as I read and re-read all of those forums.

FGARICI53, my case number is pretty low. It's in 1*** range. It should be current in October 2011. I see that yours was current in November, but your interview was scheduled in January.. What exactly "current number " means? I was hoping to have an interview in October already, however the interviews are not scheduled within the same month the number becomes current, correct? What month do you think I will have an interview?

Yes you should definitely wait, because your papers will be rejected as the fiscal year did not start and you can not send them, you can only send them early during the fiscal year, for example if you are current in December, you can send them as early as mid October or beginning of November, but for October it is better to wait, trust me, I've been there and done that last year.

so waiting till October 1st. as i said, i waited a very long time for it, i can wait till October 1st to send my papers. as everyone else, i would love to be done with it ASAP, but as we say it it Russian, being in a hurry is only good when you are catching lice (or what ever similar. sounds much better in russian. lol)

:) I speak russian, but I am not russian :)

I'm russian too lol)))
Thank you very much guys for your replies. I have an appointment with INFOPASS scheduled for may 16th. I think i'm being "a little" paranoid about this whole situation. Well.. this golden opportunity doesn't come very often.
I have a few questions

1.Natta I see that you sent the fee in the same day with the DSP-122 form. I wonder if we have to send it now as well? What do you guys think? I can't find any instructions about payment on the website...
2.I also see from Natta's signature that the second note arrived in almost 2 month from the time the first mail was sent to KCC. Would you advice on what to do during these 2 months? May be I could ask my parents to go police in my country and get the report that i'm clean. Or I should start doing medical examinations, documents translations, getting letters from my US college, proof of financial support. I feel like if I start doing everything in 2 months there will be no time left to do all those things...

I just called to KCC. I asked them about $440 fee. They said I can pay it at any time but advised me to wait until my number becomes current because the fee is not refundable... hmmm...

you can send it any time. they advice that in case you will change your mind etc. you know, stuff can change.
you don't need police records from you country if you are doing AOS. that is why they are doing FBI check for everyone. it's normal.

As my lawyer said, i'm being VERY paranoid. well, nothing i can do about it. lol

This question is regarding filling DSP-122 form.
Q1. If I have more than one middle names, should I put just one middle initial or put all the initials ?
Q3. For mailing address, if I am staying at an apartment and if there is a possibility of moving out, can I put an address of a friend ( who has a permanent place ) ?

Should the dates ( mm-yyyy ) be accurate to the month ? If I cannot remember the exact month, it should be ok to put an approximate month ?

You should write the names exactly shown on your passport.
Write down your current address, if you move out you can change your address anytime by simply faxing your address change to KCC

Approximate months should be fine.

DOS payment

My wife was selected for the Dv2012 ! And she sent onecheck of $880 for both of us ! Is that ok or did she have to send two different checks of $440?

Hi everyone,

I am concerned about having a EU201200029xxx number.

Last year I would have gone current in May. My process center is San Antonio, Tx with 4 months processing time.

Will I have time to get my Green Card processes safely before September 30? Am I risking it? My other option is spending $800 and a week vacation...

THANKS

walk in biometrics

Hello guys,

I am a DV2012 winner. I live in NJ and have chosen AOS.
I am trying to figure out how to accelerate the process.

Does anybody know how "walk-in biometrics" works?
1.Can I walk in USCIS Appliaction support center without appointment? Or should I make an appointment?
2.Some of DV2011 winners walked in after they got biometric letter. Does it mean we can walk in only we we get biometric letter?

regards,

More questions... It seems that some of DV winners got green cards through AOS without taking interview.
How can we achieve that? If you provide evidence such as employment status, financial status, marriage certificate
with I485, can you increase the probability of skipping interview process?

By skipping interview can we get green cards earlier than taking interview? If no, I do not want to skip interview though...

I read AOS2011 only more.

It seems that some Application Support Centers allow you to
go there and take biometrics without appointment, if you show
biometrics invitation letter and the evidence why you can not take it
on an appointment date.

However, some say that walk-in biometrics will not accelerate the process.

NJ Elizabeth office are usually very nice...and they take walk-ins without much of a hassle.
I would do it again now that I have my bio metrics appt but I cut my thumb and must wait for it to heal...plus I do not have a good TRUE real reason why I cant wait till Dec. 5, 11

It all depends on whethere there is anything else they need from you. Some people have previously done interviews on other cases which were put on hold...while other times, they just do not need further information hence no interview. I wish I could acquire that, but it doesnt really matter. Problem with USCIS is that there is usually no right way, wrong way, right time, wrong time of anything...not predictable in anything and we can only appreciate the process... (at least we are being processed!)
