Hello,

I'm a DV2009 winner and I've an interview for CP on january 20th in Paris.

we are three, my wife and my son (19 y old).

Now, he's studying in China for 6 months. He can't come back for the interview.

He is supposed to come with us in USA next year.

How can I do to proceed the CP without him ?

Thank you in advance for advices

They might let you reschedule but that's about as much as they'll give you. You better find a way to get your son to Paris, because I think it is a rule pretty much set in stone that all family members wishing to be considered for immigration are present at the interview. Call and see if they can schedule you for the end of your son's second semester. If they won't let you, explain to him that this is kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially at age 19. He can literally get any education he wants in the US if you are successful at the interview.

Thank you for this advice.
I thought I could cancel my son's application and ask a GC for him next year if I'm already a GC holder.
But I fear that cancel also my own application if I change something in my first statment.

you won't be able to. It'll take 6+ years to get a GC for your son through you.

In some cases, people can interview in different countries. He might be able to have an interview in China after you have your interview in Paris, but I wouldn't bet on it. If you want him to have a GC, he can make a trip to Paris for a week.

I think you're right and I'll ask him to come back.
What about his passport ? We must let it and then waiting for it by mail, isn't it ?
How long does it take for that ? I fear I have to stay in Paris more than one week

well, he'll have to do the medicals in Paris, and usually it takes a couple of days. Then - the interview. Visas are usually stamped in passports the same day, if noone gets stuck in a security check, but you should find somebody who interviewed in Paris and ask them about their experience.
