DV-2008 - CP, living in US

Hi all,

My wife is the actual winner with a 2008EU12*** number. We both currently reside in the US. We'll do the counsular processing in Ankara, Turkey.

My questions are:
- You're supposed to obtain security clearence from all the countries where you've lived for more than 6 months. So does that include the USA as well?
- Since the 2. letters seem to arrive about 15-20 days prior to the interview date, that doesn't leave enough time to compile all the documents, translations etc. before the interview for someone living in US. What would you recommend that we do?
- My wife is currently unemployed. I work for a company here and all the bank accounts are under my name. Do they consider the I-134 affidavit of support as a whole family or are they only interested in my wife's financial status?

Any ideas or answers are greatly appreciated!.. :)

no, you don't need police reports from the US.
You are supposed to compile all the docs long before the interview, whether you get the 2nd letter or not. As long as you know your interview date (contact KCC when your number becomes current), you don't need the 2nd letter.
I-134 for the family is fine.

Thanks for the response.

One more quick question regarding the I-134 form. Does it have to be sponsored by someone who is an American citizen or a permanen resident? I currently hold an H-1B visa. Can I file an I-134 to sponsor my wife?

Could anyone please clarify this part for me?

Thanks!

since you are the intending immigrant, you cannot sponsor yourself. In many cases, an affidavit is not needed - especially, since you already have a job in the US, speak English, and have an education. Just bring docs about your job...taxes, etc.
