DV 2006: AOS Approved but no visa # available !!???

I am DV 2006 Applicant with rank EU5XXX. I had my AOS interview on June 5, 2006 in Denver, CO. Officer just asked me very basic easy questions and approved my case in 10 min. But he said that he will request a visa # for me and when that becomes availabe then I should get my Green Card in 2-3 weeks. I was very dissapointed since I have to wait for a visa # to be available.. But I still do not understand how come visa number is not available yet... I passed the background check and my rank is considered low..So I am already way pass current.. Does anybody have a similar experience? Thanks...

I vaguely remember reading something long time ago that USCIS has to request from KCC or ask them if there is a visa number available for an applicant or something like that. Sorry, I can not tell anything exactly.

Thanks.. I appreciate the info... Yes, I sent it to KCC.. I didn't send my package to Chicago until I got the second letter from them..

that form doesn't matter, and all the people having problems and sending the form DSP 122 prove it
seems like people living in Chicago have more luck: boria, hmz and vk96 are living proof. their cases moved faster that any other's. no problems with name check or othern things
the rest of us we struggle and have our patience put through high pressure
good luck to everybody, and if nothing good happens at least we did our best

Yes, I live in Illinois but not Chicago and my local office is in Saint Louis, not Chicago.

May be it has something to do from what country you are, I do not know. For example, me and hmz are from the same country that is part of European union and both of our cases move really fast.

You may be right. I'm from Romania , Boria was from Russia or Lithuania and his case moved along very good. My point is for some people the whole process moved along much better that for others.
marvadur for ex. had their case solved in 2-3 months. But that form is not essential, you send it or not you may be stuck. So many cases prove it. I thought I am the only one who's waiting for FP 2 months after first notice but researcher29 is another member of the club, a sad one if I can say.
all that matters is at the end of September all off us to hold a GC. I hope and pray for that

I am wondering from what country marvadur or greg_dv2006 is? They both got their GC very fast. It would be interesting if some other people who already got their GC would tell us from what country they where and how long it took for them to get their GCs?


In reality I think it is a bunch of factors: country, where the local office is, state that you live in, how common your name is, when your number is current, etc. All we can do is just guess why some people cases move faster, some slower...

I saw this post where marvadur said she is from Brazil and her husband is from Germany.
 
Hi. There seem to be too many variables to count. There may be a correlation with simulataneous EAD applications and slow processing, but I don't have enough data to make a statistically reliable statement. There are several people who have had long and painful waits also applied for an EAD as part of their AOS package. The EAD seemsto be processed at the Missouri National Benefits Center while the AOS is transferred to the local offices, so I don't know if that could slow things down.

For the record, I'm from Thailand, have a very uncommon last name, live in Columbus, OH, and have been waiting a painfully long time for a FP notice (> 2 months).

I had my third INFOPASS visit this morning and was told the usual "Everything looks fine. Just keep waiting for the fingerprint notice and interview appointment". The USCIS officer said it is not unusual that >2 months after filing, I still have not received my fingerprint notice. It's been a painful wait, though, and I am just about ready to contact a Senator for help.

borya and me didnt apply for the EAD

I don't know if it makes a difference or not but I am from Turkey and I recieved my EAD first week of March. I got the follwing response from the Eskimo website regarding my situation:

'Visa number is available for you in principle but USCIS requests visa number from DoS (department of state) for each case separately. Sometimes they do it before interview, sometimes after - in your case it is after. By "when number is available" he meant "when they receive it from DoS". '

I don't know how valid this info is or not. I just hope that visa number becomes available before Sep. 30th.. Just in case, I made an appointment for InfoPass at the end of this month to see whether they can shed a light to my situation or not.. If I have an update, I will let you know.. Thanks..
 
My spouse and I are from New Zealand - figure that has to be waaaay down on any list of dangerous countries :p
But I'm still waiting for my interview notice. My husband got his (for end of July), but still nothing from me. Obviously I must be more dangerous :rolleyes:
INS says wait, I will get one eventually........
 
to everyone,

I am from Turkey and did not apply for EAD since i had it through graduation from my university. I made a mistake about the diversity fee and it caused delaying of my process for 2 and a half months and they started my process on the 11th of January which was supposed to start on the first of November. Finally and thanks to god I got my interview letter last week for the 10th of July.I have some questions regarding this interview. I am on my OPT and looking for job. In the list of things to bring, it does not ask for any sponsor it only says if you are employed then bring salary,hours of work and length of employment stuff. For students we didn't need to fill an affidavit of support.So about sponsor what do u guys think do i have to have one?

Any advice would be helpful .

Merhaba.. I would reccommend bringing your bank statement to prove that you have enough funds to support you in here..Since you have been a F-1 student, that means you had some sort of financial support to stay here so far.. Based on that, if you can provide a similar proof for this interview, that would be very helpful.. So, bring all your I-20s and any financial proof that you are getting from home just in case..

Thank u Ipek for the quick responses and advices. You mean just get the bank statement for my bank to show the recent transactions or deposit some big amount of money then just show it how much i have in my account?:) What about u ?Did u do the same or found a sponsor for yourself? For your case, it is weird and annoying wait wait and wait again. I thought when the visa is available then they call for interview. Good luck to you with the whole annoying process...

Yes.. I mean bank statement showing how much you have in your acct. I was also on OPT when I found out that I was selected to enter DV2006. But at the time, I had just received a job offer and I am still employed.. So, I provided them my recent bank statement along with my employment verification and pay stubs. Interview itself is very simple.. But try to bring every imaginable document with you.. The funny thing is the guy never asked me any of the original documents. He just looked through the copies and took everthing at the face value.. But just in case, I carried original copy of every legal document and proof with me.. Hopefully, you won't have to go through what I have right now.. It seems like everyone else got their visa right at the interview unless they had name check issue.. For my case, everything is checked out just fine and there is still no sign of the Green Card or even the approval notice..

I am sorry Ipek to hear your situation. Hopefully we all will be done and god bless our countries which doesn't have this immigration headaches:) I will get the bank statement from the bank in turkey since i dont have much money here:) also just came up to my mind I got 8 full-time job offers since january but i did not want to work in those companies i will also take these emails with me to let them see that if I wanted i would have taken these jobs.
