duration to get police clearance certificate

Does anybody know how much time it takes to get a police clearance from Houston or San Francisco indian embassy for CP purposes?

Houston takes 30 days!

My personal experience with SFO Indian Consulate, is 40 days.
An exception would be passports issued by SFO Indian Consulate.
Then they would issue in 3 or 4 days.

FYI..you can apply to only 1 indian consulate depending on where you live (home address in usa). You cannot chose the consulate where you want to get your pcc from. Check the SFO/ houston/ New York consulate web site to see what jurisdiction each of these consulates cater to.

I am from Houston and I had requested police clearance from Houston.

Our personal experience is that if you are in or near houston, then you can expect the prompt service if you can visit the embassy.

Usually they will take 3-4 weeks to get your police clearance certificate.

However, one note of caution, they are not at all good in answering the phone calls. U might get frustated by that.

Yup! Need a lot of patience. It might say it is transferring but many times it is in a black hole.

Applied for Spouse's PCC, more then 4wks back, trying hard to get in touch with somebody to find the status.
