Hi Guys,

I submitted my GC petition (married to a USC) in the first week of April, 09.
Can you tell me when can I get the receipt?

Does it take a month to get the receipt from the Chicago office?

Thanks,
VS

From what I have observed on various message signatures in this forum, it usually takes about approximately 13-15 days to get NOAs.

I got mine about 7 days after it was received at the Chicago lockbox (dont forget to take into account delivery time), though as the poster above stated, most people usually wait around 15 days.

Give it 2 weeks, and then register online to check status update..... usually it gets posted online as soon your check or money order is cashed.....
Good luck.

Thank you, elcupacabras

Once your check is cashed, it will have your case number stamped on the back of it. Use this number to check your status online.

I managed to get the WAC number on the back of the check, but when I used it on uscis case status online, I got an error message:

"Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283."

It has been 10 days since the check was cashed. How long do we have to wait to able to check the status online?

Thats the problem with the online status service.....its not the most reliable thing in the world. Some people are never able to see their case online. For me, I now have my greencard in hand after filing 9 months ago, however my AP receipt number is still showing as 'not found' (I get the same message you do) even though my NOA1 was received last August and approved/received last November.
Just keep checking it and 'hopefully' your number will soon be updated in the USCIS online system so that you can check your status.

That no. at the back of your check, add or minus 1. I read it somewhere and it worked for me that way.

wow~ jupiter07, you are amazing!

I did a "minus 1" and I am able to see the status online (adding 1 didn't work). I hope that it IS my status.

However, it says that they mailed me a notice on 3/31/2009.

"On March 31, 2009, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."

How come I haven't received the notice yet? It shouldn't take that long to mail something from Chicago to San Jose, right? Or maybe I am too paranoid?

HELLO lUCKYYY: I send my package in the same day like you and I have recieved all my NOAS, maybe one of this days you will recieve a good surprise, pls keep posting, I posting an april filers, I been trying to put the reciept # on the USCIS website, but it is telling the same , except that now it said like this:

Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

I guess something is wrong with the system, because lately I been hearing so many issues.

ha ha are you sure it was your number? you could have been looking at somebody elses number.

I have my GC. It was my no. A few days after I received my original NOAs. You can call USCIS to confirm. At least it is easier to speak with someone when you have a no. to begin with.

I'm in the same boat too...check was cashed on April 1st by Vermont Service Center, and until today, I haven't received the receipt notice yet...I did get a number EACxxxxxxx on my check's copy, tried that on their website, and the same error message showed up....add 1 or minus 1 as you all suggested didn't work either...arrgh, I'm just too anxious and paranoid with this USCIS' delay...

Could you keep us updated whenever you receive anything from them? I'll do so too! :)

I still haven't got anything...and checking the receipt # on USCIS homepage still showed the same message as earlier...I'm seriously freaked out now because I need an extension for my green card as I'm applying for a job very soon...I talked to my lawyer and he said if nothing showed up until next week, I might have to schedule Infopass appointment....this delay and waiting just drives me crazy...
