Dual Citizenship and K1?

Hello,

My boyfriend and I are planning on applying for the K1. He resides and is a citizen of US and I am a citizen of Canada. We need to work out some details first so, I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions in the coming months.

One of the concerns I have right now is regarding the status of my current citizenship and how that might affect our plans to immigrate me to the US. I am a dual citizen of Canada and Vietnam since I do not believe I have ever renounced the Vietnamese citizenship. I've been a citizen of Canada for ten years if that helps to clear things up.

How will my dual citizenship affect the K1 Visa? Or will it have no affect?

Will I have to renounce my Vietnamese citizenship before applying for the K1 and does renouncing a citizenship add to the waiting time for K1 processing?

Do I have to declare both my Canadian and Vietnamese citizenship when filing for the K1?

No effect. I got a K-1 visa as a dual Canadian/Pakistani citizen in 2002.

How will my dual citizenship affect the K1 Visa? Or will it have no affect?

No

Will I have to renounce my Vietnamese citizenship before applying for the K1 and does renouncing a citizenship add to the waiting time for K1 processing?

I mentioned both where possible. Some forms only allowed space for one. On such forms I mentioned Canada, as I wanted my K-1 visa on my Canadian passport.

Do I have to declare both my Canadian and Vietnamese citizenship when filing for the K1?
