Hello everyone,
I’m confused about one part of the DS-160 form for my F-1 visa. I was previously refused a B1/B2 visa, and in that DS-160 there was a question:
“Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with USCIS?”
At that time, I answered “Yes” because I was a derivative beneficiary on my mother’s F4 case. In the explanation box, I also mentioned that I had aged out.
Now I’m filling out a new DS-160 for my F-1 visa, and the same question appears again. After researching online (including ChatGPT answers), many people say that if you were only a derivative and not the principal beneficiary, you should answer “No.”
My concern is:
Since I answered “Yes” on my previous DS-160, will changing the answer to “No” now create any issues? What is the correct and safest approach?
Please guide me.
