I am inviting my parents to US and sponsoring their visa. While filling the new form ds-160, my parents encountered the Q of Birthplace. Both of my parents were born in what is now Pakistan and migrated to India around partition. Their passports has the birthplace (city in Pak) with state being "undivided India".

Now while filling the form 160, we can give the birthplace and state as mentioned in the Indian passport but for Country (of birthplace), the form instruction says this should the name of country where the birthplace is now located. With this, should we fill in the country as Pakistan or India?

this also impacts the Q on citizenship: again the instruction says name of country where the birthplace is now located.
will be great if someone can advice on this, please.

thanks

B-2 visas are self-sponsored.

It should be Pakistan. USCIS wants to know the current name. My parents like me hold triple citizenship. They were born in India and migrated to Pakistan as kids. All three of their passports, including Pakistani passport, has place of birth as India.
