Hi,
A police officer had given me a ticket around 7 years ago for jumping a red light, i only remember i had to pay a 70$ fine and take a defensive driving course. There were no points on my record. I dont think i have the receipt or any other information about the ticket, what should i do, do i need to mention it.

Thanks,
Raj

Hi Raj,

I had a similar situation. Aside from documented tickets I had tickets 10 years ago which I dimly remembered. In my application I just wrote "To my recollection I received a speeding date for... in.... It was impossible for me to recover the documents." That was enough and during the interview the officier did not even to bother. Nobodycan seriously expect you to remember every ticket...

Don't sweat it. Minor traffic violations are of little interest to USCIS, especially if they occurred prior to the 5 year "good moral character" period.

Will a certified Abstract of Driver History Record be sufficient? In NJ one can obtain that from DMV certified. I only needed to pay $10 but it lists all the traffic tickets/violations and current status of the driver.

Save your $10 and forget your minor traffic tickets.

Along the same line, my wife received a speeding ticket about a year ago
while visiting. This was on her Canadian License, Quebec plated car.

I can probably call that court and dig up the payment for the ticket,
but would you think it would even show up here considering she was on
her Canadian credentials?

I have no issue mentioning it, as I doubt a speeding ticket gets into
the moral turpitude reasons for denial :) Just posing the question,
GC interview a few weeks away and I wanted to know if anyone
has experienced this same situation.

PS, she just rec'd her EAD, and once the SS card arrives she's getting a NJ DL.
