Guys

I just moved to NJ from MA. My DL is expiring in August/03, I am working on EAD (expires in Nov 2003). My H-1B and I-94 expired in April 2003.

I need to renew his Drivers License - has anyone done this in NJ with an Immigration status like mine ? Also what docs are required ? Do the DL office raise any objection for not having valid I-94(mine expired in April 2003) ? And if the License is renewed, what is its duration-will they renew it for another couple of years or will they make it expire on you EAD/I-94/H-1B expiration date ?

thanks in advance.

Need to renew WHOSE licence ? do you mean yours ??:D:D

Better call DMV

Do not go to touts, back door entries, duplicates, short cuts etc...
some typican dirty DESI behavior:

I got my license renewed....

in NJ - I was on an EAD card then. You will have to have a valid EAD card, that is valid for a year though. So renew your card, and then go to the DMV.

There's no problem with the 1-94 - just show them your ead. They will give you a license valid until the date your EAD expires, but they don't give it to you unless your ead is valid for a year (check up on this)

hope that helps!

DL

You can renew your license only at the regional centers
in NJ. Search for the NJ DMV site on the web for this list.
your license will be valid until your visa/ead expires.
note that when you apply for drivers license you have continue
to show proof of your stay in the US after your visa/ead expires
to avoid your 'driving privelege' from being suspended. it doesn't matter if you renew your license or not.

You have to go to any of The regional centers currently open are located in Deptford, Wayne, Eatontown, and Trenton.

They will renew it upto EAD date. There's no problem with the 1-94 - just show them your ead. They will give you a license valid until the date your EAD expires, but they don't give it to you unless your ead is valid for a year (check up on this)
