Driving Licence Requirement (For FP Identity)

Is Driving Licence with currect address a must when attending FP ?

The reason I am asking is I had a driving licence of a different state and could not take the current state's licence due to my frequent travel to various states. I am also not sure where I will stay even though my family stays at one place (DC).

I hope for identity (FP) purposes, we can show some other photo ID but what are the experiences if anybody can share?

Yeah, sorta. I moved after FP notice was mailed, so I tried to do FPs elsewhere. They asked for DL (why, anyways? The notice sez DL, passport or other gummint-issued ID, NOT proof of residence - prolly should have told them "it was not asked for, so go **** yourself"), and when I said that I haven't got a local one yet, they asked for other proof of residence (apt lease or a power bill would have prolly sufficed) - that's when I got ticked and went to the center they told me to go to in the first place. Gave me an excuse to visit my girlfriend. Those people did ask me if address was current, so I told them, yeah, for about 3 more hours. Otherwise, it went fairly smooth.

I used my passport as photo ID and was not asked a single question about DL. Asked to confirm my current address though, but that was a verbal node only. Good Luck .. :)

The officer in charlotte ASC just asked me is the address correct and current. I said Yes. No further questions asked. He didn't even open my passport but did open my wife's passport just to see he is putting forms correctly with each passport.

In case if you have different state ID , when they ask for ID please ??

Just to avoid DL problem
try this
1. then first give your EAD ( which has photo) - In case if you have
if officer not satisfied
2. give passport
if officer not satisfied

3. give your DL ( in case they ask, tell them not updated )

step 1 worked for me...

If you do not want to show your drive license, just simply say I do not drive and then show any official documentation with the photo.

Driver's license is just one of many forms of identification accepted at the ASCs for FP. You don't have to explain why you are using one or the other. If you have a valid passport, just take that with you.

Thanks to lall for sharing the information which is so valuble.

I could get it now that DL is one form of the Identification only for FP and there is no evidence that it is mandatory or being asked as if it is must
