My H1 visa will expire in Aug 04 and also my driver's license.

My employer applied H1 renewal a week ago, but based on the current H1 processing times(i.e not premium) it takes about 5 to 6 months to get my H1 approval.

In this situation does DMV renew my driver's license based on the INS receipt of my H1B petition or do they need H1B approval?

I appreciate if somebody throw some light on it.

---every state has diffrent rules, go and check with DMV
I appreciate if somebody throw some light on it.

I'm in NJ. Does anyone know the NJ DMV rules in this context?

For NJ i think you need H1-B approval Notice, they wouldnot accept the H1-B receipt Notice. Call the DMV and check with them
