Drivers license renewal based on h1 extension

My 6 years of h1 life is expiring and so is my drivers license. My company has filed H1 extension @ texas based on my pending labor > 365 days, yet to receive "receipt notice".

To renew drivers license can you take "receipt notice" to DMV office...do they accept this , for how many days/months they will extend based on receipt notice. Gurus help.

In Florida, they accept the receipt. A friend of mine got a lic. for 2yrs. even though the lawyer had applied for 1 yr. extension.
