Hello,

I am expecting my interview in the next couple of months. My state driver's license still has my old address on it. I basically moved to a different town but in the same county and state. Do I need to get my address changed before my N400 interview?

Thanks

Basically you have to change your address for credit cards, insurance, etc. anytime you move. And drivers license (DL) is not an exception.

Just go to the nearest DMV. They will change your address in the system, and you can get a new DL or if you do not want to pay, they will give you an sticker you can paste on the back of your DL and write your new address.

Yes, you should change it to prevent any compications. In many states, it is also the law (requirement) to obtain a new DL for address change. They may offer a sticker, i will pay and change the address on DL.

It's not required in Wisconsin and I didn't have problem using old DL in interview. WI DMV told me that I do not need to get a new DL and they don't offer any sticker. You can check with your state DMV for that.

Here's my interview experience:

He did stop on my address because my drive license had my previous address and I told him that WI DMV does not require to have new license for address change. He suggested me to get a address sticker which can be put on to the back of the license and I told him that DMV does not offer the sticker any more. He smiled and said: must be the budget problem. I said that I have utility documents for address proof and he said not needed.

It is always best to speak with USCIS with your petition number and take decision small ommission can lead to larger complications
