Drivers Licence

Hi there, was wondering if anyone who came from Canada, or so who has a drivers licence there , how the process worked after getting ssn. Did you have to apply and do road test or do they just "honour" your criteria from the foreign country much like they do if you switch states. Can someone perhaps shed some light.

I tend to think that this varies from state to state.
Sorry, but that's the only thing I could come up with.

Hi Rex any chance you might provide a link for that state by state anayisis on D.L issuance. Id like to check it for AL. tyvm in advance

Normally depends on the DMV of each state. In any case most of them you must undergo a written test since the law that applies for drivers varies from state to state. Plus the road test, at least has nothing to compare with a real test as in Germany, so don't worry. Some DMV make you have an apprentice or learner's license for some months before apply for the license, but that varies.
Make a google search like "Alabama DMV" or "Alabama driver license" and it will show the Department of Public Safety.
