Driver Licence in NJ

They want to see documents from INS where there is a date upto which we are allowed to stay in the US. I-485 or EAD receipts won't work, it definitely did not work for me.

OK, made a mistake. Let me clarify ...
They will issue licenses upto the date which you are authorised to stay legally in the US. Visa is one. For I-485 applicants though we are allowed to stay in this country till they make a decision on our cases, but they are only allowing DLs upto the EAD expiration date. But some people even got four year extension with I-485 original receipt, which did not work for me.

Need not worry
If you got your driver's license way back (before they started matching DL expiration date to Visa date), then wait for a letter from DMV reminding the license expiration. Reply to that letter, with a check and you will get a Non-Photo ID with no problem. Then wait for your GC and convert to Photo ID....

Is this ur first renewal of DL?
Do you have Temporary INS Visa status on your DL?
Is this ur first EAD? If yes then what is ur current legal status?
If not, When your first EAD expiring? How many days you have?
Based on ur clear info, we can able to provide to you some info and guidelines.
BTW, I just spent 6 hrs today in Wanye office for my renewal. As I have GC now, I finally got rid off that Temporary Visa Status.

i recently moved to nj
i have valid out of state licence(MD)(valid for another 5 years)
insurance company ask me to get my NJ licence within 60 days
i just got my permit in NJ
it says it is valid up to april
i just need to do the vision test to get my NJ licence
still i don't know whether i need to get my nj licence
still i'm thinking of surrendering my MD licence because it valid upto 5 years
i am planning to go to the dmv next week only to get my vision test done
after that i have to surrender my MD licence(valid for 5 yeas) to get my NJ licence(valid for 2 months)
that is what i wanted to know
Is is poosible for me renew my NJ licence?
because my ead is going to expire soon
is it possible to renew nj licence with a valid iead?
if the insurance company is ok with my MD licence, definitely i am going to keep my MD licence

You can renew with a valid EAD. The expiry date of DL will be the expiry date of your EAD.
Go to any regional office except Wayne(not recommended).
You will get Temporary INS Visa Status on your license.
My friend who came from CA to NJ had gone through the same process.
His expiry date was 2007, but after getting NJ license, it became same as last date on his I-94.

Mercer County means the Trenton DMV regional center, right??
I went there on Jan 2nd and they did not do it for me. May be things have changed after you got your renewal. When did you renew your DL? May be you got lucky.
