Doubt on I-131

Hey,

I mailed my applications on Monday (485,130,765), to the Chicago express address. I didn't file an I-131 because it required a date for travelling, and I still don't know when I'm gonna do that. The doubt I have (and a friend of mine) is, is it possible to travel outside the state (going from California to New York) while adjusting status? or would I have the same problem that I would if I leave the country? (abandoning my application).
I'm wondering this cause if I leave the state, I would still be asked for my passport, and if they see my visa has expired, I don't know how I'd prove my application is pending.

I'd appreciate any info on the issue.

When traveling from state to state by air you’ll be asked for a valid photo ID.
Same rules apply to citizens and aliens.
You are not required for have your passport on domestic airline.
If you have a valid driver’s license then it’s all you need to board an intrastate plane.
 
The intended travel date on the I-131 application form is largely a formality. The AP is normally issued for multiple entries, valid for one year, and then renewable. Unless the application fee is a burden, I can't really think of a reason not to apply for one at this time.
 
Anyone on a K1 who has used AP?

My wife is here on a K1. We got married and filed AOS within 90 days of her arrival. We want to apply for AP, but my concern is if we get AP and we travel, we have to surrender the I-94 that has her original date of entry on it. If we do that, how do we prove at the interview that we got married within 90 days of her date of entry? Sure they'll have the copies of the I-94 we sent, but what if they lose that and/or they want the original? The new I-94 would have her most recent date of entry (after the date on the marriage certificate).

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the repies. I don't have any photo ID, besides the passport, but even if I did, is it legal to leave the state while the application is pending?
If it is, I wouldn't have to use something else, right?
I already filed the other applications, so now I might wait a little bit until sending the I-131. Can I just file it anytime, no matter what status my application is in?
If I do, how long does it usually take, if I didn't file it together with the rest?
