Thanks Pianoplayer,

I am sorry about the double posts, didn't realize it moved to the next page:)(duh!). I didn't see your message till now and postponed my interview. We will keep trying to see if we find an opening again this week. You're right about getting this done! Can't wait!

Thanks again for all your help...oh that reminds me...I do have my birthcertificate, but have a photocopy of it, because I was born outside the united states and my mom in India has the original. Would the photocopy work?

Hi:

Have your mother FEDEX that original to you. They may very well REQUIRE to see the originals. Most interviewers do. Good luck.

H1

Hi Pianoplayer

My interview is on monday and I am not sure what will happen regarding the EAD, I might not receive it as they will have me wait for the GC, so I wanted to get my current H1 transfered to the new employer. I have a few questions about it. I heard that there has been a fee revision for H1 filing?

I remember paying something along $185 and attorney fee when I transfered 2 years ago from my 1st employer to the current. Now they are saying, there is $1500 employer fee + $500 fraud protection and what not. Can you please tell me what is the right amount?

Thanks

DORA interview today

Hi

I had my interview today. All went well, the only thing was that the copy of my birth certificate didn't have my name on it and so he asked me to turn in a sworn affidavit from my mom within the next 30 days.

He also said that since our marriage is under 2 years, we would be approved on a 2 year conditional permit. Is that correct? Can I appeal that? I have known my husband for 3 years now. A year and half before the engagement and a year and a half after and we've been married for over a year. I mean I don't mind it being approved one way or the other, but I don't see why it had to be conditional?

Hi:

Congratulations on what seems like a good interview. By law you have to receive a conditional GC, since it is not concerned with the length of your relationship. The only issue is how long you have been married. If, at the time of approval, you have been MARRIED for less than 2 years, you will receive a conditional GC.

In any event, it doesn't matter that much. A conditional PR has all the same rights and privileges - you will need to file I751 to remove conditions in the 90 day period before the 2 year anniversary of your permanent residence (date on the GC), but it is by far not as much work as the I485/I130 package. Most people are not called for an interview either.

Relax, and again, congratulations.

post DORA Interview

We had our interview for the DORA process on 29th January and haven't heard back from them as yet? I applied for the EAD as well as I need to begin employment with new employer soon.

1. what to expect after the interview? do they typically send a receipt of some sort for I-485 application? How long does that take?

2. What happens on the EAD part of it? What documentation and timeline should I expect on that?

3. The only documentation that I had to submit again was my brith certificate copy(as it didn't have my name on it) or an affidavit confirming the date from my parents and have until February 28th to turn that in. Would that effect anything?

4. How do I contact the Dallas office for further information. Is there a # I can call?

5. My main concern is my EAD, so I don't have to do a H1 transfer that will cost me $3000 or so.

Please let me know.

Thanks
