Don't have I-485 receipt - Plz help

Hi,

One of my colleague filed for I-485 at NSC. But unfortunately they couldn't provide him with the I-485 receipt. The reason the lawyer gave was that BCIS was changing some rules at that point and so they couldn't issue one. Also, it seems the I-485 receipt cannot be re-issued.

The ND was around Feb 2003.

Will this cause an issue for EAD renewals??

Looks like for applying for EAD/AP renewals , I-485 receipt number and copy is required.

Anyone else in the same boat ???

If knows his his Receipt number call 1-800 number in ask them. They may help him. Even he can use status report on the web site.
 
I suspect lawyer is telling a lie; all who file I-485 are getting receipts from NSC all other service centers. Lawyer may be trying to keep the I-485 receipt so that you file EAD, AP in future through him or he /Misplaced I-485 receipt. Ask him to give the link to info that NSC is not giving I-485 receipt? Tell him that you spoke to NCSC on phone- 1-800-375-5283 and they said the I-485 receipt was issued.
