Hi ramss,
All the donors can check if their name is listed in the first posting of page1 of this thread. I constantly update that list. So far we have 90 names there. Your name was added long back.

Thanks for joining the fight against injustice. The goal is not just to fight the backlogs, but also to amend the citizenship law so that the time spent in I485 queue could be counted for the 5 yr waiting requirement. We will fight hard for that. Finally, if the donors keep supporting this organization, then we will take up all kinds of discrimination cases against legal immigrants.

We are racing towards $12,000 now (as of this moment, the total collection is $11,800). It is a wonderful collection within a month. So far we have not spent a single penny of the donations. We still have to pay to 'rk4gc' for spending his personal money to get paypal account for us. Also we have to start paying money to our accountant . We haven't started payments. Let the money grow :D

just made my contribution

It is one of those tasks you always want to do and yet gets postponed :( . I mean it is very simple job if i have to simply copy the names from our paypal account and post it on the web site, but i got to take permission from the contributors. For that i have to prepare a Email list by adding each and every email of each donor. This is where i am lagging behind. But we got to do it surely. If we do that and always provide some more explanation of what we are going to do with the fund, then we will be able to get more people to join this fight . I am planning on preparing a FAQ document on fund collection. Should be doing it this week.

dsatish, I mean the same handle names.

I don't think it's appropriate to display handle names at IP.org . Either Full name or partial but again we have to take the permission of the individual.

I agree. Some people who have contributed less might feel bad if we display the user-id. I guess that the best option would be to display the first name and Last name initial. Ex : If Rajiv Khanna contributed $100, we can say Rajiv K : $100.

BTW, we have crossed the $12,000 mark. Let us hope that we will be able to collect $30,000 by the end of May. Then we can start our proposed activities. We might actually need above 40K for our projects, but we don't need all the money at once and 30K should be enough to start the ball rolling. If need arises for an additional 10K in the beginning itself, then we can take $10,000 loan from some people (Rajiv Khanna, Core team etc) and we can pay them back as donations slowly pour in.
TO ALL THE SCEPTICS OF OUR EFFORTS (THOSE WHO HAVE NOT CONTRIBUTED DUE TO LACK OF BELIEF IN OUR EFFORTS), I WOULD LIKE TO DECLARE THAT WE ARE ON A VICTORY PATH NOW AND NO ONE IN THIS WORLD CAN STOP US. Collecting $12,000 in less than a month is an awsome task and the contributions are constantly flowing in as more and more people are joining this fight against injustice to Employment based immigrants.

I know that a lot of people have not yet joined due to lethargy (just postponing the day of their contribution). I request them to join us today. Let's show unity and strength. I reassure every one that no single person has access to the fund. I have only read only access to our paypal account. None of us can just withdraw the money and spend it as it is. We are fighting for a cause and so far we have not spent a single penny from the fund. A couple of people have spent their money while building the web site (paying for setting up the paypal account etc) and we are yet to pay them back.

dsatish,Edison, I mean just names ,no amount. My opinion is that atleast by that way others who may like to see names and may get motivated to visit ip.org again and again. May start donating.

Finally I did it today. For last few weeks I was thinking to mail a check, finally after going through this thread I did it through paypall.

I will continue to contribute in the coming months

Thanks,
Vengat Pandurangan.

Dear Vengat Pandurangan,

This email confirms that you have paid immigrationportal.org $250.00 USD using PayPal. This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL *IMMIGRATION".

I don't understand why you guys are interested in these kind of non-sense, money wasting things. Do you think you can really do anything to infulence the immigration officer? I believe you are also not positive about this. In fact, I suspect somebody is taking advantage of your frustration and want to make money from this. Be careful!

Some of us be here long enough to know they are trying to help by uniting us. There is better way to make money besides. You notice dsatish will show up at the court on hearing day. At least you should appreciate the fact that he will be taking off from work to do a public service.
You must not read news very often, the recent asylum case USCIS lost to the plaintiffs. And why do you think USCIS recently published several memo addressing backlog? If you don't want to participate, just watch. I don;t blame you. There are probably many out there like you. This is why we see only fraction of people coming forward to join the lawsuit, supporting the community. You just didn't realize how lucky you are that somebody else is doing the job for you.

Ignorants like you can only do that(suspecting), nothing better. We are not trying to influence the immigration officer. We are trying to influence USCIS through congressional pressure. Read all the posts in this thread and also immigrationportal.org web site. Then you will understand what we are going to do. BTW, Rajiv Khanna, our host, is a director of immigrationportal.org which is collecting this money. There are 12 board of directors. So this is not any mischief act of any one. If the donors smell that no money is spent on the purposes it is collected for, they will file a complaint that this group has collected money and did nothing.
Don't pass such cheap remarks again on people who are losing much (time and energies) rather than gaining anything. If there is any one who is going to gain, it is all the employment based immigrants.

PS : This guy (DingDang) got his GC last month. This is another 'Samansa' case  . See his posting in the following thread about his approval :

Your remarks are completely baseless. The people in this thread are volunteering time and money to try to help achieve our common goal. If you disagree with the means, please at least respect the effort.
