Im a greencard holder and my soon to be ex-wife had a 6 month domestic restraining order/no contact placed on me today.

Is this considered a crime even if the order is not voilated?

And would it affect my chances for citizenship?

I reside in WA state and have had no arrests or convictions.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

you may need to consult with attorney,,,, it is kind of unique case....

did you get your GC via this (soon) ex-wife ?

yeah but it was in 2004 - and in dec I am 5yr status....
there is no domestic violence case against me... the RS is for the divorce... she just submitted a statment claiming i abused her to validate the RS....

you realize that you have to disclose her info via N-400, regardless if she is still your wife or not

Overall, i think you should be OK (assuming there are no citation/arrest/denetion by law enforcement).

I am not sure what type of report USCIS will run for your file. You may want to disclose during interview....again...we let experts to chime in (who may have similar circumstances..)

I think there is no problem if there is no crminal prosecution against you.

But be careful never violate the restraining order even unintentionally. It will
be considered very serious.

great.. that's kinda what i figured - if anyone else has anything else useful to add pls do!
(yeah ns very serrious...) $250 000.00 fine and up to 10 yrs in the bighouse.
airn't love grand....

You aren't required to disclose a restraining order on N-400 application so it's a non issue unless you break it and charges are filed.
