Domestic disturbance visit by police

On a different note, one year back there was a domestic disturbance in my apartment complex and somebody had called in cops. cops had knocked on my door to find out if i was fighting with my wife. They took our names and d.o.b more as a formality(i guess to cross check for prior history), but assured us that we had nothing to worry about. The same night there were more disturbance and i think cops may have found the right door. Any chance this may delay the name check clearance.

Are you sure this cut wasn't from the neighbors domestic disturbance that just by concidence, landed the cops on your doorstep... If you weren't being handed a beat down by your wife, then USCIS won't give any thought to cops to took down your name and d.o.b... You don't have a domestic violence or disturbance citation, do you? If you do, this will be a good forum to disclose this information so that experts can help you out, because disclosing it at the interview will sure tank your N400...;)

If the police simply took your name down and nothing else, it wouldn't effect your application.

It is not an issue at all. No worries :) If they found your right door, they would have cited you or your spouse or arrested you/your spouse for domestic disturbance and you would have noted down on N-400 and disclosed it so neither of you had a citation. Either of you were not arrested.

Police taking your names won't affect your application or naturalization process. Good luck! :)

My wife makes me do all the vessels (those with sharp edges leading to the cut :( ). Any chance i can claim domestic abuse :-) ? And one good thing out of all this, I am off the hook for washing vessels for next couple of weeks.

Seriously though, it was a scary experience being woken up at 12:00 am and officers talking to my wife privately to ensure that nothing untoward is happening.

I wasn't worried about this becoming a problem, but was wondering if it would delay my process, if the name had gotten into DB and they had to manually verify it or something like that.

K,

Just be glad you had given her the thrill of her life earlier that evening...:) If it weren't for that thrill, who knows what she could have told the officers...:D I can imagine you were terrified by this ordeal and it is a good thing it became nothing or your N400 would be facing some serious palooka..:p I never worry about the name check process at all, I have no criminal background and never will, it is against my DNA to commit crimes, except crimes of speeding which I will never be caught for as I use the latest radar detectors... Good luck to you friend and next thing, you name check is clear and you are raising your right hand swearing to defend this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic...Dick Cheney, Sean Buttinnity......

It won't delay your process. Why should it delay the process if the cops didn't give you/your spouse citations or arrest you/your spouse? Police just simply took your names because if your fighting with your wife occurs again in the future, they will remember your names by looking at the notes that they wrote down your names on and will give you serious citation.

USGC,

I doubt police keep those notebooks for years if for a month. I think K is fine, as long as he doesn't make a habit of living next door to domestic disturbance people...:)
