Hola,
Does the uscis accept and sign for priority mail on a saturday?
If I mail my application so that it gets there on a saturday, will they sign for it on saturday or will it get delayed till the next monday?

Gracias,
-Molina

In the grand scheme of all things N-400 related, a one day delay is not important. Don't worry about it - consider than your application can get processed in as little as 3 or 4 months or as long as 3 or 4 years.

Just mail the application, then sit back, relax and check your mailbox every day for the next 6 months to a year

Good luck

Flydog, I have vacation plans, so want to mail it on a saturday, so I can get the FP done before I leave for vacation. 1 day makes a difference of a week if I am not wrong from the trend I see on these posts. This is strictly for FP, not the rest of the process.

chao Amigo.

Just make sure it is within 90days.Mine got returned cause it was a day ealry.I mailed it on Friday thinking they would have it on Monday.Next thing I see my package was returned cause the office got it on Saturday and actually looked at file same day.

dckaraja,
I got my GC on 03/29/2002, so I am planning on sending in my application on 12/30/2006. Which is exactly the 90th day, what you do think? Is my calculation correct?
I have a vacation planned from 2/8/2007. I am hoping to finish the FP before I leave.

I like to calculate it day by day (using excel) and here is it to ya

You want to file on----------= 12/30/2006
You got your green card on--= 03/29/2002 -
--------------------------------------------
----------------------------= 1737
And 5 years - 90 days-------= 1735 days
----------------------------= + 2 days

So you are ok ..but I would still wait... till Monday ...even though you have a vacation ..still will not effict a lot... be in the save side

Good luck

Hola Ahmtime,
Thanks for the details analysis.
So you mean to say, I can actually file on 12/28/2006?
If I file on 12/30/2006, I am filing with a safety buffer of 2 days, right?

Hmm, I calculated in this manner :

03/01 - 03/29/2007 = 29 days
02/01 - 02/28/2007 = 28 days
01/01 - 01/31/2007 = 31 days

Total = 88 days , so plus 2 days = 90 days == 12/30/2006

If this calculation is wrong, please correct me.

Chao.

I agree with Ahmtime.Do it on Monday. But you can mail it on Friday as well.At the end it all ends up on the officer and his workload.Dont sweat it.!! :p

Something is happening here I post answer here ..and it just disapear

What's going on... I hope the whole forum will not disapear ...

Hola Ahmtime,
Are you saying I can apply one 12/28/2006 if my GC was issued on 3/29/2002 ??
Chao.

How do you know I said that... because I am not seeing my previous post ...it's been deleted or something

any whay here it is what I posted

regarding your 5 years - 90 day rule ..I allways like to use excel to calculated

You going to apply on--12/30/2006
You had your GC on----03/29/2002 -
-------------------------------------
==================1737 Days

And that 5 years - 90 days = 1735

Then you can apply on 12/30/2006 as you plan, but I still recomand you to be in the safe side and apply on Monday and no rush ( even for vacation)

Thanks for the repeat post Ahmtime.
I am not sure why you can't see your previous post, I can see it.
I want to apply on 12/30 because the following monday (1/2/07) is new years and might be a holiday for uscis :) in which case I might lose time in getting the FP notice.
I have a vacation booked, so don't want to take chances.

oh..I see now what wrong i did that provent me from seeing some of the posts ..it's the view type I have chosen on this forum ..now I corrected it.

Back to your case ..even if you sent it on 12/30/2006 ..which is Saturday, they will not start any kind of process untill they clear the check, and because it's holyday and a weekend , your check may not clear untill Wed. if not more so there will be no diffrence at all. ..BUT YOU CAN STILL SEND IT ON 12/30/2006 ..cuz you are then inside the 5 years - 90 rule

---------------------------------------------------------------------
This is from my own reading, and isn't by any mean a legal answer, seek a lawyer if needed, or do your own homework.

3/29/2007 minus 90 days = 12/29/2006

You should not count the five-year anniversary date, 3/29/2007, i.e., you only need to take into account 28 days for March next year.

Thanks hh137, I guess then I will be perfectly fine sending in my application on 12/30/2006.
