Does US customs stamp your passport?

I am soon going to be out of any free passport pages, because US immigration very often stamps my passport with "ARC" stamp.

What makes me angry if they put it on a whole new blank page right in the middle. (If you need visa to a country they usually require a blank page)

Does US customs stamp all foreign passports of LPRs ? And has anyone tried to, politely, ask them not to stamp it?

Every time I entered I got the same stamp except once I believe. Having the stamp is good for naturalization purposes. You can prove the amount of days out of the country. Easiest solution is to get a new passport.

They don't always stamp your passport. You can try asking them not to stamp, or to stamp a page that is partially full, but you could annoy them. I agree with lvnp: deal with it and get a new passport.

If you travel frequently, you can avoid US entry stamps by enrolling in the "Global Entry" program. They interview you then run a thorough (and recurring) background checks on you. In return you can use a computer terminal to record your entry instead of going to a manned CBP counter. It costs $100 to enroll.

Thanks for your input guys. Have any of you tried not to give the passport at all since all we need to enter the U.S. is the green card?
