Does this invalidate I-485?

I just applied for my I485 / EAD / AP. I think I should have the approval of AP / EAD by Dec 2001. I also have canadian landing papers (Canadian Green card approval paper) which is valid only if I enter canada before March 2002. I am planning to land in canada in March 2002, activate my green card, and return to USA immediately . On the way back into USA from canada, will US immigration cause problems because of my canadian landed immigrant status ? Does becoming a canadian landed immigrant invalidate I485 application / EAD / AP? (Ofcoz , I will be giving up canadian green card the minute I get my I485 approval. Canada is just a safety measure , just in case something very bad happens with US immigration. )

FYI

This is a real case when I cross the border a few years ago from Canada to US.

A couple (wife is GC holder and also a Canadian PR, husband is Canadian PR but I wasn\'t sure if he had GC) went visiting their son in the States. The officer happened to see that the wife has GC as well as Canadian PR, he just took the green card away from her and told her she can\'t have both status at the same time. She tried to explain that she has been working in the States for several years. The husband was furious and couldn\'t believe the officer being rude to them. They still believe that they can have both status. I didn\'t know the outcome but just thought you might want to know this.

You need to have something to comeback to US

There is no problem as long as you have legal docs to come back to US. I went for the same purpose and on my way back I showed my H1 and had no trouble. I told the officer that I have a canadian immg, but no problem at all.
There could be a problem if you have a GC and canadian immg. Then you would need to cancel one.

Thanks

Thanks for ur reply. In my case I dont yet have USA GC. I have I485 Receipt, EAD , AP and will be going to canada to activate my Canadian Permanant Resident status and immediately come back using my AP. So do u see a problem in this case? Thanks again
