Does the online case status change when they mail you the oath letter?

My interview (with name change) is done and got the "decision cannot be made." There was nothing particularly wrong with my file so I expect to receive an oath letter in the coming months.

Does the online case status change as soon as they mail you the oath letter? If so, to what?

Thank you for the answer.

Not in my case. And I think others have the same experience. Basically your online status gets stuck at "interview".

Bmore - did the IO give you a specific reason as to why a decision could not be made? I am interested, as I passed the tests and didn't have any real red flags (as far as I am aware) in my file...

I was specifically told it was to do an additional FBI name check, for all applications after JAN 1, 2010 (perhaps the IO didn't say ALL, but that's how I interpreted it and maybe its only a handful, randomly selected locations. As he did very specifically tell me that everyone who passed the test that day in Seattle would get the same decision)

Quite frankly, I did not even bother to look at the paper that was marked "decision cannot be made" because I did fine during the interview. I completely forgot to look at the paper until I stepped out and I vaguely remember the officer telling me I'll receive the oath letter in mail. It's stupid of me but I forgot to in all the rush. I might have read too much on here and felt bit overly confidence during the interview. :(

On the other hand, the officer did tell me at the beginning of the interview that they have an Oath ceremony today and if I do not change my name, I can have the oath today (if I pass the interview).

Question: Are you student and have you filed taxes in the past? Maybe they are giving all students "decision cannot be made" for a particular reason (verify admission into a school?).

No - not a student. Its been a while since school :) All paper work is in order. No name change etc. either.

Interestingly, on the same day I interviewed, a former colleague was there for her interview. She walked out in under 20 minutes - saying "All done. Passed" It was not until I called her immediately after my interview, did she realize that she too got the "no decision can be made" checked on her form. i.e. she didn't pay attention to that little detail.

My interview was also exactly 20 minutes, but my IO clearly told me that while I passed and there are no real concerns, he will not be approving that day, and I should expect a letter in the mail... Admittedly, at this point is when I got overwhelmed "What? What happened. I passed, but no decision? Why? When will I get the letter etc. " The IO could probably sense the disappointment, but at the same time didn't want to indulge me and basically quickly showed me the door.

Waiting for the shoe to drop now, that's all... :)

Nope. I just checked mine and it still says 'Interview' status and my Oath was about 3 weeks ago.
