Does the company need to sponsor you for EAD renewal

I know this is not the place to ask this question. But no idea where to get answer from. So...

I was on a dependent visa before.I have my EAD now and is looking for an entry level position after finishing my masters. When I applied for job, the company asked whether I need sponsorship, I said "NO" as I have the EAD. But they are saying they need to sponsor even for EAD renewal. So they are not willing to hire as they have to do all this.

Now when I was applying in another company, I found this query -"Will you need "****Company" to sponsor you for work authorization or for a renewal of any current work authorization that may expire in the future".

I was about to write 'NO' and then I remembered the previous company's remarks. My understanding is EAD is something you have to renew by yourself and your employer do not have to do anything. I also know you cannot work if you do not have a valid EAD.

Can any one in this group, enlighten me and tell me what to write.
Thank you

They're absolutely wrong. An EAD is self-sponsored.

You are quite accurate in stating that you do not need sponsorship.

EAD is not green card, it gives you right to work in US but during certain time. Partly I can understant HR of the company which assumed that with EAD you may require sponsorship in future.

OPT students get EADs and very often apply for position keep saying "I am fully authorized to work in US", but technically it is not true and they may require sponsorship in future from the employer.
