Does retrogression matter if you get A# on I-485 receipt?

Hi,
My PD is May 2004. I was able to get I-485 in EB3 category (concurrent, India) filed before Dec 31, 2004. I have the I-485 receipt and it has a A# printed on it and a ND.

The same A# is on my EAD.

Does it mean that i received a visa number?

Is the visa number the same as the A#?

(One of my friends with a GC showed me his card and it had the same A# that he got on his I-485 receipt a few years ago)

Does it also mean that I am not being affected by visa number unavailability since I do have a Notice Date and an A# already? :)

Did i manage to crawl just in time or am i living fool's fantasy? :(

Thanks.

This visa number has nothing to do with your A#. A visa number is assigned to you in the 485 approval process. Unfortunately you are affected by retrogression. Your 485 will not be processed until your PD becomes current. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(
